Looking at the song titles I hope it's not a mediocore Disney styled album. There is something about titles that gives away some quality.

I love this song sooooo much.. but there is just something about her that makes me want to punch her in the face
This was the first time I've seen her perform solo or anything not Glee related; and it just reminds me of her character from Season 1 - 3 on Glee.. somewhat unlikeable because of her talent and delivery.

What's with her background singers from 10:15 - 10:30 though... they're WAY out of tune or something :Dizzy:

Anyone else feels like she's trying to milk Cory's death?

What should she do then? Retire? Sit at home all day with a prayer book looking solemn? Image x

This song is weird and it's sticking in my head because I make fun of how she pronounces every letter of every word! I think some things fly through the air better than a Kahn-nawn-bawl!!!

She's mimicking Sia (the songwriter). Sia has a very particular way of singing and pronouncing words when she sings and some artists that work with her emulate that a bit too much in their own versions, Lea is one of them. She didn't make it her own and sang it like Sia does. It's still a nice song though.

I have never heard SIA sing, so I can't say that, I just thought it is nice Lea is showing her true Broadway style, it's nice to see a girl who can actually really sing without overduing it, without being to artsy-fartsy, and just let the voice speak for itself. I loved how she said it is Sia's song, she didn't take the credit. About milking Cory, uhm, people are asking her the questions, and she needs to adress it, and talk about it, so people can move on and take her seriously.

The last song on the album 'If You Say So' was also the last thing Cory ever said to her
I gave birth to a pterodactyl
OMG, did it sing?

She's also from Broadway (pre-Glee) and in musical theatre, you're taught to pronounce your words carefully. It's called "diction". It's so the audience can hear you clearly in a full theatre. Perhaps that's why she sounds that way?

Not trying to knock Lea as I like her and the song, but she really is emulating Sia a bit, especially in parts of the chorus and the pre-chorus. Sia has a very particular way of singing and it's not uncommon that people she writes for end up sounding a bit like her, which I guess is a testament to her own interpretation skills. Just for reference here's Sia singing "Diamonds" live and you can tell Rihanna's final version was heavily influenced by Sia's take on the song:

And here's a recent Sia song where you can really hear her very particular way of singing:

When you lose someone, being busy and working distracts you and helps you moving on. I guess this is the case. I'm not a fan, not even a Glee follower, but I've read comments about people saying Cory has just died and she's already releasing a single an album. They don't stop and think that maybe that's exactly what she needs, otherwise she would be depressed at home all day whenever she's not filming Glee.

Obviously it can see as milking his death, but that could be said now or in 3 years if she had waited, cos people would go "he died 3 years ago and she's still singing about him? what a way to milk his death".

Ex-fucking-actly! Just get it out there now, because 3 years from now, It's gonna either look like milking, or the poor girl haven't moved on..
So just, move on, Cory would have wanted her to do what she is doing, I can feel it.

Oh and about the way she is singing, sorry I still don't hear Sia, I hear Lea as I've heard her singing Rachels songs. In fact I had to really tell myself this was not a glee episode, but this is the real Lea. I know Rachel, but I'm only starting to get to know Lea, and from what I can see, she is far from being Rachel.

i actually reminds me of a danish singer. He was frontman of a cool band(Saybia) who was known for playing sad songs. One day, his girlfriend got killed in a trafficaccident, but his little daughter survived. He took his time to grief, but then he returned with a full album, about the grief and about loosing the GF. People took it well, but sadly it was not a good album, so after a while, people decided to be so mean and evil and be like "Why does he only sing sad songs, haven't we heard about that for now, he needs to move on", and yaddayadda. I felt so bad for him, just doing what he, as a human felt he should do. And if Lea feels like this is what she wants right now, then why should we be negative about it, we can't change it anyway..
