First thing I thought of was the 'Let Your Head Go' video.

This is exciting. I love when Victoria gets recognized with such things that generally don't go to former pop artists or celebs period. People even on this forum still try to slag her off but come on.

So when will she become a Dame? That will lovely. :inlove: Dame Victoria Beckham, OBE. :satan:

Wow that is amazing! I so hope it is true.

How time flies. Unbelievable 13 years since David's OBE.

Todays articles in DM about the OBE reminded me how much hate she used to get from the media. I almost forgot. Who else to remind me but DM.

Her spokesman didn't comment but "friend" said it's nothing and just a paperwork backlog.

I agree. People outside the UK do not care anyway.

Gets on my nerves when people outside the UK say "oh well don't care about that" "who cares about the royals" ect. It's a huge deal for someone born and raised in the UK to be recognised by the royal family.

Just cuz it doesn't matter to you doesn't mean it doesn't matter to anyone else. People round the world LOVE the royal family. Probably more than a lot of people in the UK.

I bet it also matters to Victoria. This will be one of her life highlights till the day she dies.

Sorry, you had me up to this point. Sure, I imagine it's a big deal for someone from Britain to get an OBE, so good for her! But the huge majority of people around the world don't give two flying fucks about the royal family, I have no clue where you got that idea
They're tabloid/magazine fodder at best, like any other regular celebrity.

^Kind of agree. Each to their own, but in general people outside the UK, at much, "respect" the Queen. But that's pretty much it. The vast majority of non-UK people don't even know what an OBE is.

I agree it is indeed a big deal UK-wise, but take it outside the UK and it will only matter to her fans and a few other specialists in royalties and such historic things around the world.

Yeah, not to downplay her win, but really the monarchy is really not that popular across the world.

And in the UK, more and more people are turning their opinions around, with many being vocal against the monarchy. Personally, I think it is an old, colonial and imperial institution, completely pointless apart from tourism and reinforcing the privilege of one family (who get MILLIONS a year from public funding, whist people are starving on the streets!).

But sure, good on her. I guess if she is happy, then that's good. x

I won't agree with you guys cos I work at the hotel and majority of the guests staying with us for holiday reasons are here in London not to see London Eye or Big Ben but they're heading straight to Buckingham palace hoping they'll be invited over for some nice 5 o'clock by Queen or just to see a glimpse of Kate or William, lol! Royals are as much popular in the terms of being papped and looked at by people around the world like first page world's celebrities. Just to mention most of the clothes wore by Duchess of Cambridge are nearly always sold out in less than 24hours after she's appearing in them. Don't think any other recent star/celebrity got this appeal she does.

Exactly, they are a tourist and celebrity attraction. Therefore, they should have no say in UK law or to be the 'head of state'.

I think all the Girls should have got at least an MBE back in the 90s for their services to the music industry. The impact that they made worldwide, and with a British "brand", definitely merited it.

I'm a bit perplexed by Victoria's OBE, though. It's still very early days for her fashion label, and the business is still very shaky financially. And while her charity work deserves praise, lots of celebs do similar work for good causes: Geri threw herself into it way back in 1998, for example. It seems as if the decision makers got dazzled by Brand Beckham.
