Geri has a new publicist - music coming?

Postby muppet » 22 Apr 2015, 09:15

Just saw this online...maybe it means there is music coming soon? :music:

Emily Ball at The Outside Organisation now looks after all PR enquiries for Geri Halliwell. The former Spice Girl, who announced her engagement to Christian Horner last year, joins a roster which includes Alexandra Burke and Jake Quickenden.

Interesting to see Alan Edwards still being linked to her all these years later.

According to my conversations with Anthony at Brontone, she WILL be releasing the album this year. We had approached them about getting her input on a Schizophonic reissue that we had planned for the end of the year, but because of the new album, she doesn't want any of her old material reissued. A clause in her contract with EMI Chrysalis was that she has final say of any reissues outside of the scope of the original album. We had wanted to do four CDs (and possibly a DVD) in a deluxe box set but she shot it down because she (rightfully) wants all the attention on her new album.

Interesting. I see where she is coming from if that is all true but I sure would love a deluxe box set aswell.

How interesting. I understand her position - of course. I don't want anything to detract from her new album; however, I am extremely tempted by a four CD (and DVD!) package. I wonder if she would object to a reissue for a later release.

I'm curious whether the box set would be limited to the Schizophonic era (demos, remixes, instrumentals, unreleased tracks?), whether it would include the other eras, or whether the Box Set would consist of her 3 albums and a bonus disc. I only ask because I was under the impression that Geri didn't have any unreleased tracks from the Schizophonic era (which is why we got so many covers as b-sides and why Look at Me didn't have one). Given the fact that such boxsets really only apply to hardcore fans and not the casual listener, I question whether it would really draw attention away from her new album (since the loyal fans would likely buy both).

I do think if EMI wanted to press the issue, they could always throw out a Greatest Hits boxset and just include the material. If they're not going to sign or distribute Geri's new material, it's not like either side has anything to lose from such a release. And as it's been 10 years (not including Half of Me) since an official release, fans would appreciate the opportunity to purchase both a new album and a boxset.

I wonder what prompted EMI to reléase (or think about re-releasing) Schizophonic

As big of fans as we are, do we REALLY think there's enough demand for reissues? I think a new album is going to be hard enough for her.

I think it's fairly common for labels to release old material when previous signings release new material on a new label. Warners released all of Madonna's albums when MDNA was released on Interscope. It'll cost them next to nothing.

Oh you know…..just a little 20th anniversary reunion of the the most successful girl group next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce the reunion tour in November or December. Reissuing most of the solo albums onto iTunes right after the anniversary announcement would more than likely garner some sales.

Oh, I get all your points... I just meant, it seemed more real to re-issue the girls albums (or even just "SPICE")...

Going with "Schizophonic" was GREAT for me, but odd for the general public...

Not that I'm against it

Can you imagine a deluxe set with unreleased tracks from each respective album era. I think I would die and go to heaven lol

I would love some unreleased songs from Geri. Hopefully, we would get Geri's version of Supernatural, Dare You To Be Happy & Sweetest Pain if this reissue happens.

I would love to hear Disco Sister Music and Geri's Got Her Groove Back.
